Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outperformed his teammate at all of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix two weeks ago, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his Red Bull team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619 seconds behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
